How Do I Meet People?
Our church is not a place for spectators. It is a place for team members. Whether you are a five-year old child, a ninety-five year old grandmother, a busy mom, or a businessman with big responsibilities, we want you to be a part of our vibrant church community. Here is how you can learn, serve, and grow at this church.
Often, small groups of people are better able to interact and learn about a topic than larger groups are. For that reason, our church has small Bible studies held in member homes. The size of the group is anywhere from six to twelve people. At a time designated by your group leader you can participate in the small group study. Weekly, we meet on Friday night at members’ homes in Oakland city and on Saturday night at Fremont/Union cities.
Each Sunday, children get to participate in their own classes. Bible lessons are taught in such a way that every child gets to participate and learn. Each of the class teachers is carefully screened and thoroughly trained in children's instruction. The youth ministry of our church is recognized for their meaningful interaction with kids. Children Sunday school classes begin at 1PM after their English worship service at 11 AM.
Life can get complicated once you cross that nebulous threshold into adulthood. There are complicated decisions. Bigger stakes. Serious relationships. And a whole lot more decisions. The young adult group of our church provides a welcoming atmosphere for college and early-career aged young people. Pastor Johnson and his team are proactively engaging in the lives of young adults. You are wanted!
Women's groups give the ladies in our church family special times of interaction. Our women's groups, located in several locations throughout our community, are times of Bible study, prayer (and, of course, food). These groups provide a refreshing discipleship opportunity for the women in the church. They meet 3rd Sunday of the month at church for service and fellowship. Please contact the Women Fellowship leader, Chaw Chaw (Tin Tin Aye Yee) for detail activities.
Men's Accountability Group
Accountability among men is an act of integrity. Accountability is designed to protect, encourage, and develop men of all ages. Accountability groups consist of three men each. Accountability groups meet together as their schedules allow and keep in touch by email or phone. Please contact our Men Fellowship leader, Dr. Soe Ngwe for detail activities.
Even though marriage is one of the most important institutions, it is the one which is under the most attack–internally and externally. The church gives married couples the opportunity to join four month marriage classes including topics such as Marriage and Money, Getting Ready for Kids, Shepherding Children, and Marriage and Sex. We meet casually around the dinning tables for sharing our family life experiences. You will be surprised how much you learn from others in those conversations.
Once you get past fifty, the fun has just begun. Whether retired, just plain tired, or active as ever, the over-50 group of Grace Community provides refreshment, ministry, and times of valuable interaction. A mentoring ministry gives older believers a chance to meet with and help younger believers grow in Christ. Our seniors members are actively attending weekly services. We are encouraged by their present among us. You are welcome to our senior and adult fellowship.
